~Joseph W. Aschenbrenner, O.D.
Dr. Joseph W. Aschenbrenner received his Doctor of Optometry degree in 1985 from the Illinois College of Optometry. Dr. Aschenbrenner is an Adjunct Faculty member of the Illinois College of Optometry, a member of both the American and the Illinois Optometric Associations and is a member of the Volunteer Optometric Service for Humanity Organization. In 1990 he established his practice in Barrington and was later presented with the Independent Optometrist of the Year award by EYE-GRAD and Company in 1991. He was also the recipient of the Bausch and Lomb Contact Lens Outstanding Achievement award and the Syntax Contact Lens award. coupled with his interest in contact lenses, Dr. Aschenbrenner enjoys the challenge of designing lenses for patients with unique and complex prescriptions. In addition to contact lenses, he also provides laser refractive care, low vision care, pre and post operative surgical care, and treatment of ocular disease.
Dr. Aschenbrenner is dedicated to providing his patients with personal vision care in the stat-of-the-art facility that he designed in 2003, and he continues to provide the best possible care for his patients by keeping current with the technological advancements within the profession. Additionally, Dr. Aschenbrenner volunteers his time by providing exams and glasses to patients associated with the Barrington Lions Club and also, as a longtime member of VOSH (Volunteer Optometric Service for Humanity), he provides eye care and glasses to the poor both locally and internationally.
~Lisa M. Kowar, O.D.
Dr. Kowar earned her Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) and her Bachelor of Science in Visual Science from the Illinois College of Optometry as well as a Bachelor of Science in biology from Loyola University. She is an active member of the Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation Association, American Optometric Association, Illinois Optometric Association and Optometric Extension Program.
As a practitioner with over twenty years of experience, Dr. Kowar has focused on caring for the visual and eye health needs of patients at all stages of life. In addition to providing comprehensive eye health evaluations, she is also involved in pre and post-operative care for patients with cataracts and refractive surgery (LASIK) procedures.
Other areas of her expertise include applying the latest contact lens technologies, specialty contact lens fittings and visual rehabilitation. Patients benefit from Dr. Kowar's multidisciplinary approach to solving vision related processing issues.
~Kevin J. Kovach, M.D.
Dr. Kovach received his Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry with honors form the University of Illinois. He graduated Doctor of Medicine cum laude from the University of Illinois. He continued his transitional residency work at MacNeal Hospital and completed his residency at Loyola UMC. He is a certified eye surgeon of the American Board of Ophthalmology and a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and the International Society of Refractive Surgeons.
He is currently on staff at Elmhurst Hospital, Oak Park Hospital and Elmhurst Outpatient Surgery Center. Dr. Kovach has been performing laser procedures with The Laser Network since it was first opened.
~Bartek , O.D.
Dr. Bartek earned her Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) from the Illinois College of Optometry and Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in biology from Dominican University. While attending optometry school, she worked as an optometric technician at Barrington Eye Care Center. She completed her externship with clinical honors at Midwest Eye Professionals, Adam Benjamin Jr. Outpatient Clinic, and Illinois Eye Institute with an emphasis on ocular disease, specialty contact lenses, and primary care. She is a member of the American Optometric Association, Illinois Optometric Association, Beta Sigma Kappa Honor Society, and Tomb and Key Honor Fraternity. In addition, Dr Bartek is involved in providing eye exams, through the Barrington Lions Club organization to the under-privileged local community.
Dr Bartek practices full scope optometry to patients of all ages: treating visual needs, overall eye health wellness, and medical conditions. She is also certified in Orthokeratology, which temporarily reshapes the cornea while sleeping to allow glasses and contact lens-free vision during the day. Other areas of her interests include fitting multifocal, monovision, and toric contact lenses, treating dry eye, and providing pediatric eye care.
